The front brake cylinders

There are those smal caps that hold the pushrod in the cylinder. Mine have spacers inside them and cant move so much. Can i take out the spacers inside them put in a spring instead and weld them back together. I got a picture of the part i am talking about. They are not in a good shape on the pictura but i fixed them and now they are sitting mounted
